This artist edition Séance card has three visual variations (readings), all hand-numbered and stamped with the artist edition stamp. Each card includes a rubber-stamped hand planchette, which may be used to hold séance with other worlds. The séance cards have been shuffled and will be sent out in the order divined by the shuffle.
    Each Séance card comes with full album download code that includes the bonus track.

In a concert of paranormal music, notes are plucked from thin air as the haunted strum of hour-hands, votives and the missing fingers of an amputated doll’s hand, play upon the strings of an abandoned [auto] harp and electric guitar. Divined in séance with the breeze and occasionally received through the faulty socket of a practice amp, invisible melodies emerge, cluster, and evaporate:

Substance can be heard to shiver, as a choir of air guitar and harp brushes past the tangible and apparent in sounding correspondence with the invisible and unheard, whilst the neighbours of human chatter, bird song and a distressed dog, add their voices to the aeolian motet.
The ethereal music of aeolian instruments, has long been associated with other worlds and ghostly communication. In his poem, The Eolian Harp (1796), Coleridge refers to: ‘Such a soft floating witchery of sound’. For Coleridge music sleeps in the air:

Where the breeze warbles, and the mute still air
Is Music slumbering on her instrument.

The 17th century natural philosopher, William Jones, proposed that this ‘slumbering music’ originated not in the strings of the harp, but in the air itself. The instrument operated as a ‘sound prism’ ‘[refracting] the wind,’ dividing [divining] and revealing ‘vibrations […] already present in the air.’ On this album we hold séance with air.
